Casey RACE Turns 10!

June 18, 2019

Casey RACE is delighted to have celebrated their 10th birthday on Thursday 13th June, with birthday festivities and giveaways occurring all week. With 10 staff being present since the beginning and over 7,000 total members, there have been many people involved from day dot.

Centre Manager at Casey RACE Carly Sanders is thrilled to have shared the birthday revelries with the many loyal members and staff that have been such a fundamental part of making the Centre what it is today.

In the spirit of our birthday celebrations, the grand prize was to win a Children’s Birthday Party. The lucky winner of this prize was Ritika, an excited Swimming Lesson student, who gets to bring down 12 of her friends to celebrate her birthday with fun aquatic based activities.

Not only was a Birthday Party prize on offer, as children came through the gates on their way to Swimming Lessons they had the opportunity to guess the number of lollies in the jar between 500 and 1,000. With a perfect guess of 819, Brock got to go home with a sugar rush in hand and a smile on his dial. Patrons were also able to take photos with an Instagram cut-out and enter in the raffles to go in the draw to win fantastic prizes.

On Thursday at 11:00am, Barry Harrison, Area Manager for ONE Casey, said a few words about the Centre and thanked the staff, volunteers and members involved to get the facility to where it is today. A special thank you was warranted to the City of Casey Council for their ongoing support over the years. This event was live streamed to the Casey RACE Facebook page.

There was also grand breakfast spread put on by the Café with treats to suit everyone, and a large two tier chocolate cake that was enjoyed by anyone who was lucky to grab a slice.

Casey RACE is renowned for its modern design and state of the art equipment. Carly was proud to be able to have had the Centre on show during the birthday week celebrations.

“The Centre is looking fantastic and is equal to any other Aquatic and Recreation Centre within Victoria. It has remained a premium facility due to ongoing investment from the City of Casey.”

There is an immense sense of belonging when coming into Casey RACE, whether that is through being a loyal member or coming in casually.

“Casey RACE is a community hub where locals and travellers can come to socialise, exercise and take time for themselves and their families,” Carly said.

We are also pleased to share our constant adaption to the latest technologies with members and give them access to benefits that will continuously instil motivation.

“We are excited to continue to implement new initiatives at the Centre such as 24/7 access to the gym area. The gym has also recently received a facelift with all new strength equipment being installed and over the next 12 months we will also be introducing new cardio equipment.”

Though Casey RACE’s birthday has been the talk of the town throughout June, we strive to encourage members to put their membership access to full use by utilising all facilities within the Casey Cluster.

“Casey RACE works alongside other YMCA managed facilities such as Casey ARC and Casey Stadium as part of the ONE Casey group. ONE Casey aims to reduce barriers to participation to enable the Casey community to be healthier, happier and more connected,” Carly said. “We are proud to have been managing the facility for the last 10 years and are excited to see what the next 10 years brings.”
