YMCA is taking precautions to protect the community in response to corona-virus

March 16, 2020

The safety of our customers, families, staff and volunteers is our top priority for YMCA Victoria which is why we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. We want to reassure you we are following the advice of the Department of Health and Human Services to help minimise any impact of the virus.

We are committed to the health and well-being of the community and as the situation and response to COVID-19 evolves, so are we.

We want to reassure you that our staff have the support they need to provide a safe environment for the community and are prepared to react accordingly to any confirmed or suspected cases.

We also want to reassure all of the community that we are meticulously and frequently cleaning at all of our locations and encouraging everyone to take extra care, as this is this tried and tested method of not spreading the virus and keeping yourself well.

As a response to the virus, we have a procedure and action plan in place to try and minimise risk.

This includes the following:

• Increasing the frequency of cleaning all surfaces

• Additional signage up around general hygiene – encouraging everyone to wash their hands before meals and after going to the bathroom

• Making sanitisers (such as soap) more available for use

Again, we take the health and safety of our communities very seriously and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time.

If you have any concerns, please feel free to get in contact with one of our friendly staff or visit the Department of Health and Human Services website at dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus
